Finding a Good Ultrasound Technician Guide
Outside of actual college courses in ultrasound and sonography, it doesn’t hurt to have some books of your own. Having a guide to becoming an ultrasound technician or to certain areas of the field can serve as a good reference so that you continually stay sharp. “Reading ahead” into the ultrasound field can also give you a sense of what you’re getting into if you’re only at the beginning of your educational process. And in general have another “angle” on what instructors are teaching you is always a good idea. It gives you a sense of independent knowledge that compliments whatever educational program you’re in. Below are some books that cover the topic in detail.

This is a comprehensive review guide and study resource designed to help readers pass ultrasound technician certification examinations as well as serve as a general ultrasound technician guide.

In its 8th edition, this is guide is a market leader and very thorough guide. In fact, the 8th edition isn’t even out yet, but can be preordered. Or you can just get the 7th edition. Either way you’re sure to find a storehouse of great information in this guide.
Some of the salient points of this guide are a thorough coverage of physical principles involved in ultrasound technology, a 40 page color insert that has actual examples of ultrascans performed, and a text book style that goes over terms and learning objectives at the beginnings of chapters.
This book is a bit pricey. It goes for around $80.00 on Amazon and $72.00 on a site called cardiotext.com, but it’s probably worth the money.
